LP Săai came from a family of farmers.  He was born in 1912 and was ordained as a monk at the age of 23 years old at Wat Pa Jum, Ban Khao.  His teachers were many but most notable were Phra Kru Nu of Wat Pan Nan (his preceptor), Phra Ajahn Thong Swananasaro of Wat Ban Nonyang (his chanting teacher) and Phra Ajahn Dee, a very senior monk (his ordination-proclaiming teacher). LP Săai studied hard and passed his religious studies Nak Tham Sri at Wat Luang Chen in Udon Thani. In 1940 he was appointed as the Abbot of Wat Bua Jum.

It should be noted that LP Săai (or Sai) is also know by his earlier name Phra Kru Anurak Wimolkun พระครูอนุรักษ์วิมลคุณ (สาย) as demonstrated in his photo below.
