Wat Ang Sila is in the metropolis of Chonburi 65km to the south east of Bangkok; it must be visited to experience the tranquility and spiritual presence of the incredible, little spoken about, sacred monk LP Sĕe.

Ang Sila is a fishing town with a thriving market and was previously know as Ang Hin (Hin is Thai for stone). The town has strong Chinese connections; at the end of the Second World War Chinese migrants originating from Teochew settled on the peninsula which was rich in sandstones and high quality granite. The Chinese migrants were skilled stonemasons and to this day produce many items for the Thai domestic market such as pestles and mortar used on a daily basis in Thai cookery.
